Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Lucid Notes requires macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
After installing from the App Store, simply open the app and start typing! Your notes are automatically saved locally. Use the sidebar to organize with tags and the toolbar to format text.
Features
The free version includes up to 5 notes, rich text editing, the transparent floating window, basic themes, and export to all formats (JSON, Markdown, RTF, PDF, TXT).
Pro unlocks unlimited notes, App-Contextual Notes, iCloud sync across all your Macs, App Lock with Touch ID, premium themes, and priority support.
App-Contextual Notes are floating note cards that attach to specific Mac apps. When you focus an app like Xcode, Figma, or Zoom, relevant cards can appear for that app context.
With Pro, your notes automatically sync across all Mac devices signed into the same iCloud account. Changes sync in real-time when you're online. Your data is stored in your private iCloud container, encrypted by Apple.
Yes! All users can export notes to JSON, Markdown, RTF, PDF, or plain text. Use File → Export or the keyboard shortcut to save your notes in any format.
Privacy & Data
Your notes are stored in local app storage on your Mac. Pro subscribers can optionally sync to iCloud, where data is stored in your private iCloud account and encrypted by Apple. We never have access to your notes.
We don't collect names, emails, locations, ad identifiers, or note content. See the Privacy Policy for the full list of third-party processors and what each receives. Your notes stay on your device and/or your iCloud account.
Billing
All subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to System Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Subscriptions to view, modify, or cancel your subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple since all purchases go through the App Store. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support to request a refund.
